Change the shell of a particular user

If you want to change the shell of a particular user, you can do it by issuing the following command:

#usermod -s /bin/tcsh user

where “/bin/tcsh” is the path to the shell you want to change to and “user” is the username of the user you want to change the shell of.

This command works with the root user only. If a user wants to change the shell him/herself, then the following command can be used:

#chsh -s /bin/tcsh
