Linux hangs for a while during startup

If your linux box takes a long time while booting especially while loading sendmail, its mainly because it can’t resolve the hostname (probably because of corrupt DNS server or if the server is down). You can overcome this by specifying the hostname in your /etc/hosts file. This will bypass the DNS check and the system will boot normally.
